On May 31 and June 1, the LASAA Committee spent two days interviews meeting more than 40 incredible Minnesota-based artists. Our mission was to select 19 creatives to participate in the Live Action Silent Art Auction scheduled for August 8, from 5 – 10 p.m. at The Hennepin, in downtown Minneapolis.
Judging by the work that walked through the door, LASAA 2025 is going to be an impactful evening of art, entertainment and community.

Each day of interviews was long, and jam packed. In back-to-back meetings we conversed with prospective artists at an exhausting but exhilarating pace. From high school students dripping in talent, to classically trained fine arts masters, we were blown away by the deep seeded talent that walked through the doors of The Hennepin.
Once we met all the artists, we spent hours making some of the most difficult decisions we’ve ever made. The creativity, the skill, the innovation and the dedication of the creators that wanted to be a part of this unique event was more than impressive. Minneapolis is a city where art thrives. The lineup of artists we have for LASAA 2025 is solid evidence of that and we cannot wait to share their work with you.
The artists for LASAA 2025 are:
Ally Moreno – A self-taught indigenous artist born and raised in Minnesota. Ally says art came to her through therapy to deal with trauma. She says her work helps her conquer her inner fears and thoughts.
Andrew Sjodin – A classically trained painter and draftsman who describes himself as primarily an oil painter. Andrew grew up in Forest Lake, MN, and currently lives on a small farm in Isanti County.
Briauna William - A talented artist and entrepreneur, Briauna works her magic with acrylics on canvas as well as on a far grander scale as a celebrated muralist. She enhances communities with her vibrant colors and her eye toward beauty in strength.
Cameron Williams - A fine art nature photographer based in Minnesota. His landscape photography captures the quiet majesty of the natural world—from sweeping cliffs and rugged coastlines to serene forests and mist-covered mountains.
Cassie Dulyx – A ceramicist who says she learned pottery making at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts, where she perfected her metal-speckled ceramics and raku-fired works.
Catherine Tong – A Northeast Minneapolis artist who says her goal is to nurture a connection between the viewer and the natural world. Her botanical works demonstrate her belief that there is just as much beauty in a wilting flower as there is in a fresh one.
Chris Gorecki – A classically trained abstract oil painter who uses large formats to translate stories without words. He says the rich saturated colors and deep textures in his work convey his ability to process his own stories.
Dayja Owens – A young Minneapolis artist using vibrant color and an eye for the dramatic in her abstract portraiture.
Elissa Nesheim - A watercolor artist working from her home studio in Minneapolis. She says traveling frequently cross country by car tied her view from the windscreen to the dreamlike, layered landscapes that form her current work.
Francesca Miguieles – From Santiago, Chile, a formally trained artist who works in oil, acrylic and watercolors. She says her art is rooted in observation, portraying real people and authentic figures.
Jadyn Spann – A young Minneapolis based artist and writer, currently studying Fine Arts at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Jadyn’s work is centered around portraiture but experimenting with narratives and multiple mediums.
Leo Fortune – An emerging Minnesota artist and longtime public school educator who says coming out as a neurodivergent queer trans human reignited and exploded their art practice. Leo’s work now explores how the power trees and spirals connect us to our authentic selves.
Maivena Gaye – A self-taught mixed media artist specializing in blending materials like mirrors, glass and clay. Maivena says her art is her worship and her way of showing the world what can be accomplished through faith in God.
Max Devereaux – Born in Milwaukee, WI, Max is an artist, musician and filmmaker. His acrylic abstracts are exuberant, and his ink work is reminiscent of Japanese calligraphy.
Patience Epps – A Minneapolis high school student whose work was recently displayed at the Minneapolis Institute of Art through the Teen Perspectives program. Patience says she hopes her art will have meaning and that viewers can learn from it.
Ronnie Spann – A jeweler specializing in copper and stone wearable art. Ronnie says his work is divinely inspired and possesses unique and multidimensional applications.
Sheldon Powell - A graphic designer turned fashion and event photographer with an eye for the dramatic and a penchant for using color to make a statement.
Tanner Palmer – A Minnesota based abstract artist using acrylics and a very fine brush to create detailed images in a riot of color. Tanner’s work should be seen up close to appreciate the full details of his creativity.
Thomas Martin – Working in graphite, carbon and charcoal, Thomas spends countless hours perfecting a single piece to stimulate deep and strong emotions that foster more intimacy with his audience.
