Francesca Miguieles

Acrylic Painter

ARTIST BIO

Francesca Miguieles is a Chilean mixed media figurative artist residing in the Twin Cities, Minnesota since 2016. Her work is formed on her personal experience as a Queer Latina Immigrant and serves as an exploration of self-love and personal remembrance.

Working with the vulnerable figure as the main subject, she finds ground to express emotions towards personal experiences navigating displacement, queerness, and chronic pain. Her series of work searches to open awareness within discourses of personal identity, the human experience, and the intersection of the idea of “self” and one’s body — and how these bodies are perceived, consumed, and affected by society.

Her art is rooted in observation, portraying real people and authentic figures. This approach transforms each piece into a collaborative experience with the community, offering a safe space for nourishment and connection. Based in her Minneapolis home studio, Francesca explores these motifs by working through series or work at a time and using recycled mixed media, as she is dedicated to a sustainable and ethical practice, often using materials that are found or responsibly sourced.

Francesca attended Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago and Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze in Florence, Italy before graduating from Minneapolis College of Art and Design with a BFA in Drawing & Painting and a Minor in Art History.

Francesca has had the privilege and honor of curating and being part of several gallery shows locally and in her home country, Chile. Some places include Galería Fauna, Q. Arma Building, Vine Arts Center, Fresh Eye Gallery, Umbra Arts Gallery, Artists in Conversation, Otherworldly Arts Collective, MCAD Gallery, and more.

This year, she has upcoming showings at Gamut Gallery, Live Action Silent Art Auction, and the Latine Heritage Month 2025 Exhibition: Raíces: Our Legacy. As a full-time artist, she is now focused on being part of art fairs in the Twin Cities, including the St. Paul Art Crawl, Art-A-Whirl, Art at St. Kate’s, Minnehaha Falls Art Fair, Minneapolis Sculpture Garden Art Fair, Edina Art Fair, Stone Arch Bridge Festival, St. Louis Park Art Fair, Loring Park Art Fair, Twin Cities Pride Festival, MCAD Art Sale, and more.
