Striped Shawl
I created this initially as a preliminary drawing for a painting that I intend to do. As I worked on the drawing I started to appreciate the composition as a charcoal, in black and white. Typically I do not finish preliminary drawings. As I grew to like this drawing more and more I decided to make it into a finished piece. I have yet to start the painting.
The model in this drawing is a regular at the school where I teach, The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Arts. She has these vibrant turquoise dreadlocks that really sing along side the golds in the shawl featured here (although not in color in this format...). Besides her awesome hair-do, she is also a pretty awesome person and a model that holds herself to very high professional standards. I greatly appreciate being able to collaborate with her on projects like these.
